1. Who we are

AWJ Perfumes ("we", "us", "our") operates the online store at awjperfumes.com, selling perfumes and related products to customers in Egypt and worldwide. Our store is built on Shopify, which processes our checkout and payments.

2. The information we collect

Information you provide directly: your name, phone number, email address, delivery address, and any details you add to a message or order note. When you create an account we also store your login email and a profile record. When you use guest checkout we save your phone number and the order details so we can follow up if a payment is not completed.

Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser type and language, device information, the pages you view, and how you found our store. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 7).

Order and payment information: when you place an order, Shopify collects and processes your payment details, billing address and shipping address on our behalf. We receive the order contents and customer contact details, but we never store your full card number.

Newsletter data: your email address only, stored so we can send you offers and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to: process and deliver your orders; manage your account and order history; provide customer support via WhatsApp, email or phone; send you transactional messages such as order confirmations and shipping updates; and, only with your consent, send marketing offers and newsletters.

We also use it to prevent fraud, verify identity, comply with our legal obligations, and improve our store, products and services.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: (a) contract — to fulfil your order and deliver it to you; (b) legal obligation — to meet tax, accounting and regulatory requirements; (c) legitimate interests — to prevent fraud and improve our store; and (d) consent — for marketing emails, cookies that are not strictly necessary, and any optional processing. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that has already taken place.

5. Sharing your information

We share your information only with the parties needed to run our store and fulfil your orders, and never sell it to third parties.

These parties include: Shopify (our e-commerce platform and payment processor); shipping and delivery carriers; Google, when you choose to sign in with Google; our analytics and marketing providers; and authorities or payment networks when required by law or to investigate fraud.

These processors act on our instructions and under appropriate agreements, and we limit what they can do with your data.

6. International transfers

Because Shopify and some of our providers operate outside Egypt, your information may be transferred to and stored in other countries. We rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your data is protected to a comparable standard wherever it is processed.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We and Shopify use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember your bag and preferences, measure how our store is used, and (with your consent) show relevant ads. Strictly necessary cookies work without your permission; other categories can be turned on or off in your browser settings.

8. Data retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account and order data is kept for the lifetime of your account plus the period required by tax and accounting law (usually several years). Guest checkout and abandoned-order phone numbers are kept long enough to allow follow-up, then deleted unless a completed order links them to an account.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; receive a copy of it; correct inaccurate data; delete your data (subject to legal retention rules); restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent at any time; and request transfer of your data to another provider. If you are in the EU, UK or another jurisdiction with a data protection authority, you can also complain to your local authority if you are unhappy with our response.

10. Children's privacy

Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and limiting data to staff who need it. Payment details are handled by Shopify, which is certified to PCI-DSS standards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the updated version on this page and change the "last updated" date below. If we make significant changes, we may also notify you by email or a notice on the store.
